Christmas planning: Don’t scrimp on security

It’s December and the event preparation leading up to the Christmas period and New Year has begun. But while you’re busy trying to arrange the succession of functions, don’t get complacent about your security.

Christmas brings about a feeling of celebration, a free rein on over-indulgence and excitement with a nice long holiday to look forward to. Unfortunately, for those arranging events to entertain the masses in the party season, your hands can be rather full.

So here are a few tips to ensure your security is tip-top, and that your Christmas events go smoothly:

  • Don’t scrimp on security. Chances are you’ll be extra busy, and you need to be prepared for an even more jubilant crowd than usual. If some of your regular team are taking holiday over the festive season, you’ll need to ensure you keep control with plenty of qualified staff to replace them.
  • Increase your door staff. It’s cold out, and your clientele won’t appreciate standing in a long queue. Make sure you have enough door staff to keep the flow of traffic constant. Venture’s door supervisors are not only trained, accredited and licenced; they will also treat your customers with respect to uphold the reputation of your establishment.
  • CCTV – make sure you’ve got plenty of cameras, no black spots, and that they are all fully-functional.
  • Ensure your premises are well-lit – that includes car parks. This will help your patrons feel safe and is also important for effective CCTV monitoring.
