Venture Security offsets carbon emissions with tree planting scheme

As anyone who works with us knows, we are dedicated to achieving industry  accreditations in order to reflect our commitment to professionalism. But when you think of hiring a security company, your first question might not be: Are they environmentally responsible?

We believe that it is everyone’s responsibility to do what they can to reduce emissions and help protect our environment. As the leading supplier of security services in Hampshire and the surrounding counties, we are doing our bit too with our efforts to become carbon neutral.

A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact our activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide (CO2). For a business like ours, the primary footprint assesses fuel usage, transportation and use of electrical equipment. The footprint calculation uses metrics developed by the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and other internationally recognised sources to devise the resulting figure.

At Venture, we annually create 20.99 tonnes of CO2 and to offset this, we have proudly invested in a carbon reduction project (run by Carbon Footprint Ltd), which involves 21 broad-leaved trees being planted in the South East. By taking responsibility for our output, we’re doing our bit to prevent climate change and provide protected habitats for wildlife in our area.

Our actions don’t just give us a warm cosy feeling - by offsetting our carbon footprint, we are also on the way to achieving carbon neutrality, subject to PAS2060 requirements. We are also now working towards achieving the Carbon Footprint Standard which will demonstrate to our clients and stakeholders our robust commitment to environmental management.

So now you know: that’s just one more box ticked which makes Venture Security the best choice for security services in the South.
