Case study: LCB Dinton

LCB is the largest and most successful privately-owned tax warehousing company in the UK, specialising in the spirts, wine and beer sector. Customers range from fine wine merchants to global investors, including 6,500 private fine wine clients from 70 countries.

Around 600 experienced operations staff look after 2,400,000ft of HMRC tax approved warehousing across the UK, holding 10,000,000 cases of stock. In addition, LCB offers distribution services through its dedicated fleet of 300 vehicles, which make 23,000 nationwide deliveries each week providing Ecommerce and D2C fulfilment for the sector.

Situation

Venture has been providing frontline defence for LCB’s Dinton Wood Storage Facility in Salisbury since 2017. Set in 100 acres of secluded woodland on the site of a former Military RAF ammunition storage depot, LCB Dinton encompasses various buildings and a series of heavily reinforced concrete subterranean chambers, embedded within the hillside.

The company called on Venture’s services following a poor experience with a previous supplier, where consistency, quality, capability and reliability was lacking. This included officers regularly turning up late, meaning LCB had to resolve guarding duties that should have been fulfilled thoroughly by the contractor. LCB also received little communication from the security provider.
